Paneer Tikka ! one of our favourite starter recipe & vegetarian appetizer which makes all of us tempted. Well, paneer tikka is marinated paneer (cottage cheese cubes), arranged on skewers and baked or grilled in the oven for newbies to Indian food. We also can name this recipe as tandoori paneer tikka as paneer is cooked in the tandoor which lends a subtle smoky charcoal flavour to the paneer. Ingredients 


  • 125 to 150 gms of paneer
  • 1 small capsicum (green, red or yellow)
  • Oil for shallow frying or pan-frying
  • Chopped coriander leaves or mint leaves for garnishing.

 For marination


  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • 1 tbsp besan, a pinch of haldi
  • 1 tsp ajwain
  • 1 tsp red chilli powder
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1 tsp jeera powder
  • 1 tsp chaat masala tsp
  • Garam masala powder
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • Salt as required.

 

Method


Dice the paneer and capsicum into cubes. Mix all the ingredients for marination well. Add paneer and capsicum and mix well making sure that the cubes are completely coated. Skewer the paneer and capsicum alternately on toothpicks. Heat oil for shallow frying in a pan. Add the skewered toothpicks to the oil and shallow fry till light golden and crisp. Fry in batches. Remove on a kitchen paper towel. Sprinkle some chaat masala, black salt & lemon juice along with chopped coriander leaves before serving. Serve with some mint chutney.
